ACCORDING TO WEBSTERS: "KING-PIN" \'king-,pin\ n (1801) 1: the pin that stands in the middle   of a triangular arrangement of bowling pins. 2: the chief person in a group of undertaking. 3: kingbolt - a vertical bolt by which the forward axle and wheels of a vehicle or the trucks of a   railroad car are connected with the other parts. 4: a pin connecting the two parts of a knuckle joint (as in an automobile steering linkage). 5: the best friggin' magazine to hit the newsstands since Hot Rod DeLuxe!

KINGPIN MAGAZINE:
CAR SUB-CULTURE FOR THE MASSESTM

Kingpin will be a magazine that focuses on retro hot rods and the car culture that goes along with it. Featured cars will be primarily hot rods of the 1930's - 1950's, but exceptions will be made to cover a range of interesting hot/street rods and custom cars of any era.

The culture that goes with it is really the point at which music, pinups, B-movies, low-brow art, and all things "Americana" intersect. Rockabilly, country, rock, and even punk all find their way into the hot rod culture. Kingpin will also feature a monthly pinup, which will be a tasteful, vintage, cheesecake-style, calendar girl.

Kingpin Magazine will be a quality publication. Models on the cover and calendar pages will be professionally photographed. All subject matter will be selectively used, and carefully reviewed before it becomes part of the publication.

Below is a ROUGH IDEA of what you can expect for the cover to look like (you know, a gal and a cool hot rod/custom, of course!); we're not set on the fonts/logo yet, but you get the general idea...

Here's some "keywords" to describe the content:

  • Traditional hot rods and customs
  • Rockabilly/Punk/Rock/Country/Underground music, Johnny Cash and even Frank Sinatra.
  • Americana, such as SPAM, white bread, beer, pizza, bowling, pool, cigarettes, guns, vintage motorcycles, and our "right" for cheap gas and no speed limits (we wish!)
  • Unique Car Events
  • Car/Garage-related television shows & movies
  • Las Vegas (of course)
  • Vintage and modern burlesque shows
  • Pin-up/Calendar Girls
  • Car tech/tips/tricks
  • Computer tech
  • Hip/Retro clothing
  • Cool merchandise to buy (books, CD's, other merchandise)
  • Celebrity Profiles/Interviews (such as with Hank Williams III, Billy Gibbons, Brian Setzer, The Reverend Horton Heat, etc.)
  • "B"/Pulp (Hot Rod and other) movies
  • Cool Art (retro/hot rod)
  • How to plan a "road trip" (and survive), plus tales of woe and discovery from the road

(And yes, KINGPIN will be IN PRINT; this isn't a web-zine!)
